Update: Remix Fund results are here!

Annabel Scheme is a short novella—a digital/occult detective story!—now available under a Creative Commons license. I’ve set aside $1000 from the book’s budget for remix projects, and this is where you can pitch an idea.
A little more background:
I wrote and published Annabel Scheme with the help of about 600 patrons. It’s gotten a warm reception from readers, but I’m greedy! I want more: I want other people to transform it and make it their own. If you’re a writer, an artist, a musician, a mathematician, a pastry chef—or a fan of one—where could you, or they, take this story? I want to find out.
So how does this work?
Step one. Check out the book:
- See it in Google’s PDF viewer (good for reading on the screen)
- Download the standard PDF (good for the Kindle)
- Download the two-page spread PDF (good for printing at 8.5″ × 11″)
Step two. Think about how the story, characters, or text itself could be remixed or reimagined—and then pitch an idea. It can be an idea you’d like to execute yourself or it can be an idea for someone else to execute. That someone can be a friend of yours or someone on the web whose work you admire—a cartoonist, a podcaster, a programmer? An architect? A costume designer? Be creative.
Submissions are closed for the Remix Fund—but stay tuned to find out which ideas got funded!
Update: Remix Fund results are here!
Next I’ll share all the ideas collected with the book’s patrons—there are about 600 of them—and they’ll vote for their favorites. Then, we’ll start at the top and go down the list, funding ideas until the $1,000 is spent. If one of the winning ideas is yours, you’re good to go. If it’s an idea for someone else, we’ll get in touch with them and invite them to do it! Simple as that.
Voting happens the week of January 11, so the deadline is January 10.
Launching this page right now. This is an unusual scheme (no pun intended… but pun accepted) so if anything’s unclear, don’t hesitate to leave a comment.
