The Children’s School of La Jolla, California: I salute you
This list makes my day, for obvious reasons.
(P.S. Actually, the entire blog is really good! Smart, fun stuff, even [especially] for those of us no longer in 7th grade.)

Thanks for the link to us. I’m a student at The Children School. The entire seventh grade has read and enjoys your work more than any of the other books on the list. My personal favorites are Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore and The Writer and the Witch.
I can’t wait for your Kickstarter book to come out. Since your shorts are good, your long story should be even better.
@Tobin: Just your basic internet epidemiology. I saw a little flurry of hits this morning all coming from the tcsnmy7 blog, so I clicked over and checked it out.
@Anthony: I hope you like the book! I have to say, the experience surprised me. It was not like writing a very long short story—like running ten miles instead of two. Instead, it was like switching sports—like going from baseball to football. Sure, it required a lot of the same (mental) muscles… but really, it was a whole different game.
I loved The Writer and the Witch. Thank you for getting in touch with our students.
Hey Robin, I also go to The Children’s School. I loved “The Wrong Plane.” It’s fantastic. That was such an awesome idea to write it on a plane. I never can find a way to occupy myself when I’m flying. I also enjoyed your “Dance Party on Jefferson Avenue”. I cannot think of any better short stories. Like Anthony I too am looking forward to your longer book.
Hello Robin, I am also part of The Children’s School, and i really liked your short stories. I find it really cool that you wrote your, “Wrong plane” book on just one flight
Neat! I’m glad you guys liked “The Wrong Plane.”
It’s interesting; when it comes to creative projects, people often think that what they need is more time, more time. I think it’s often the opposite. Sharp deadlines (even crazy deadlines, like five-hour plane flight deadlines) are a great motivator, and—more importantly—they force you to really focus and decide on a chunk of work that you can actually finish. Finishing things (and sharing them) is important. There are definitely some parts of “The Wrong Plane” that I’m not satisfied with, but I’d much rather have it done, and out here where you guys can enjoy it, than sitting half-finished on my hard drive.
